CALFED: Supporting Ecosystem Restoration (1997-2000)
CONCUR worked with the CALFED Bay-Delta Program on two separate occasions to foster the broadly supported development and implementation of the Ecosystem Restoration Program (ERP), one of the largest environmental planning initiatives ever undertaken in North America.
In 1997, CONCUR helped design and facilitate the Independent Review Panel on Ecosystem Restoration, which critically reviewed the draft Ecosystem Restoration Program Plan and created a new structure for the Ecosystem Restoration Program. Then, from 1998 to 2000, CONCUR worked with Ecosystem Restoration Program staff on strategic planning efforts, including providing guidance on work program development and facilitating a stakeholder group charged with identifying, addressing and resolving key policy issues associated with the ERP and its implementation.
CALFED is a joint effort among more than 20 federal and state agencies working to broker a deal that will create a long-term solution for the Delta that improves water supply reliability, levee system integrity, water quality and ecosystem restoration.
