CONCUR facilitated a strategic planning meeting to support a new, $15 million, National Science Foundation-backed initiative on climate change. The project–the Nevada Infrastructure for Climate Change Science, Education and Outreach–is in the beginning phases. Members of the initiative’s 30-person task force include research faculty, teaching and education professionals, and business community leaders affiliated with Nevada’s Desert Research Institute, University of Nevada at Reno University of Nevada at Las Vegas and the Nevada State College.

Participants identified the key activities to be conducted during five-year project and the significant outcomes to be measured for each project component. Discussions centered on how to best integrate climate change, water resources and ecology research into cyberinfrastructure, policy-making, education and outreach. The participants also reached agreement on the elements, structure, and criteria for a stakeholder advisory committee. CONCUR Associate Rebecca Tuden and CONCUR affiliate Peter Bluhon teamed with Principal Investigator Gayle Dana to lead this workshop.
