Nevada NASA Space Grant Consortium Strategic Planning (August 2010)
CONCUR Associate Rebecca Tuden facilitated a strategic planning meeting of the Nevada NASA Space Grant Consortium (NVSGC) on August 19, 2010 in Reno, Nevada. The meeting was organized and convened by NVSGC to identify 2010-2014 goals and targets for NASA’s National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program.
The meeting focused on providing participants with an overview of the Nevada NASA Space Grant effort, its Consortium Goals, SMART Objectives and reaching agreement on a draft Strategic Plan and Implementation Strategy with identified metrics of success and achievable targets for each institution. Academic faculty and administrators from six of the eight institutions under Nevada’s System of Higher Education (NSHE) participated in the meeting.
Participants also agreed upon key disciplinary areas of emphasis for the NVSGC, including: Climate Change, Astrobiology, Astronomy, Planetary Geology, and Systems Engineering. Consortium members reviewed and confirmed grant objectives and developed measurable targets for each objective. They also discussed strategies for achieving the identified targets. The identified objectives and targets in turn will be folded into the NVSGC Strategic Plan and circulated to the participating NSHE campuses for their review. The Strategic Plan is expected to be finalized in Fall 2010.
